Zoning Code Update

The City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning has embarked on one of the City’s largest planning initiatives to date: a comprehensive revision of the City’s Zoning Code. The current Zoning Code was first adopted in 1946, and has grown from an 84-page pamphlet to a 600+ page book that does not reflect the City’s 21st Century needs or vision. Learn more »


Jackson/Teton County, Wyoming

Land Development Regulations

On behalf of the Town of Jackson and Teton County, Code Studio prepared a reformat and reorganization of the Town/County land development regulations to improve its usability and functionality. With significant support from the Town/County staff, the firm has completed a review draft of the full code. Learn more »


Roswell, Georgia

Unified Development Code

In October 2011, Roswell adopted their 2030 Comprehensive Plan which described Roswell’s future as a community of choice to live, work and visit. The 2030 Comprehensive plan calls for revitalizing areas in decline, providing additional housing options, and reconciling conflicting rules to attract quality projects. Learn more »

Land Development Code

Code Studio worked with a team of consultants managed by the City of Cincinnati to prepare a Land Development Code. The City is the recipient of a HUD planning grant that is funding the Plan Build Live Cincinnati initiative. Learn more »


Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Ephesus Church/Fordham Form-Based Code

Code Studio recently prepared the Town’s first form-based code, for the Ephesus Church Road/Fordham Boulevard area. This code implements a previously-adopted small area plan. Learn more »


Teton County, Idaho

Model Sustainability Code

As part of HUD’s recent sustainability grants, a four-county area south and west of Yellowstone National Park is committed to grow more sustainably. Code Studio created a model land development code based on the Greater Yellowstone Framework for Sustainable Development as part of the strategy. Learn more »


Code Studio, in conjunction with the Center for Planning Excellence, created the Louisiana Land Use Toolkit. The Land Use Toolkit is a model set of development regulations that can be used to help guide future growth and development in an sustainable and economically competitive manner. Learn more »


Memphis, Tennessee

Unified Development Code

Code Studio prepared a unified development code for the City of Memphis and surrounding Shelby County. The unified development code is the first for the area, and incorporates the zoning and subdivision ordinances into one consolidated document. Learn more »


Raleigh, North Carolina

Unified Development Ordinance

In November 2009, Raleigh adopted their 2030 Comprehensive Plan, updating and replacing the 1989 Comprehensive Plan. As a direct implementation step, Code Studio drafted a new unified development ordinance (UDO). Learn more »


Peoria, Illinois

Development Code

Code Studio worked with Ferrell Madden to amend the City’s existing zoning and subdivision codes. The focus of the project was on implementing the City’s recently adopted Heart of Peoria Plan, which encompasses some 8,000 acres of land.  Learn more »
